Wag Veterinary Clinic: We are starting a new adventure 5 miles west of Charlottesville in Ivy, VA. We are looking for an enthusiastic, competent technician to help develop our clinic into a primary care facility that offers both quality care and good value with a smile on our face.

The position is full-time during the hours of 8 am - 6 pm Monday through Friday. Two years or more experience is preferred. However, a motivated new/recent graduate with the right attitude and ambition will be strongly considered. Clear understanding of laboratory, venipuncture, supportive care and anesthetic protocol is important. Leadership qualities, managerial skills and a supportive team outlook are highly weighed in the decision. Lifting up to 40 pounds is required. There will be room for vertical advancement if you are inclined.

Lighthouse Veterinary Care for Cats is a Feline Exclusive Veterinary practice located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Since our opening in August 2021, we have experienced tremendous growth and are looking to add an exceptional Licensed Veterinary Technician to our team.

At least one year of experience is preferred, however consideration will be given to an otherwise exceptional candidate. The love of cats, experience with, and feeling comfortable with handling them is a must. Having the understanding that “cats are not small dogs” is paramount.

LVT duties include but are not limited to:

  • Performing in-house diagnostic tests - including the use of in-house Blood analyzers, performing Urinalysis, parasitic examinations, blood smears, cytology, etc.
  • Taking digital, full body and dental radiographs
  • Placement of IV catheters
  • Performing cystocentesis, & venipuncture
  • Have proficiency in obtaining blood pressures using Doppler instrumentation
  • Performing dental cleanings and charting
  • Delivering & monitoring anesthesia

Each candidate must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia or be willing to obtain licensure in the state. The candidate should be comfortable speaking with clients and vendors, have excellent writing skills and demonstrate at the least, mid-level computer literacy. An understanding of the business of veterinary medicine is also important. A dependable team player of high integrity with leadership capability, is innovative, can problem solve and address
potentially challenging situations is most desired.

Compensation is competitive and based on experience. This position offers flexible Part-time or Full-Time hours. A signing bonus of $1000 is available for Full-Time hired individuals; $500 for Part-time individuals.

Our remote veterinary technicians, depending on their position, could be responsible for cases on the Pet Poison Helpline, SafetyCall’s industry side, and our Veterinary Helpline regarding potential toxic exposures, poisonings, and other adverse events or questions from pet owners.

Schedule
Full-time (40 hours/week) and Part-Time (varied) options.  Shift times/days vary depending on position applied to. Most include every other weekend and rotating holidays.

Required Experience, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
1. Active CVT/LVT/RVT License and 1+years of experience OR 3+ years of work experience as a Non-Credentialed Veterinary Support Staff performing technician duties.

Remote Agent Requirements
Must be willing to obtain/maintain at their expense certain IT requirements and have a designated home office area. They may not have any other responsibilities during the time they are working such as caring for dependents.
